There are a lot of reasons I'm taking this much needed break, but the only important one worth noting is that I currently feel my personal art:
a. has become stagnant in skill and interest.
b. is not consistent or immediately recognizable in style
c. has gotten lazy and uninspired, particularly with backgrounds which I am not very skilled at anyway.
My goals for this indefinite break:
1. Re-train eyes by drawing (pencil/ink) still lifes and pictures of people/animals/landscapes.
2. Do more on-site drawings of people and places (like the library, park, zoo, etc.)
3. Get back into watercolor painting, using the same stuff as #1.
4. Most importantly, when I feel I have relearned/improved my traditional skills, I want to begin figuring out own my personal, CONSISTENT, recognizable illustration style.
I am still taking commissions, though my watchers here aren't very active and to be honest, I don't know how many of you will read this or care, save for those who know me personally. This isn't really a negative thing, nor does it hurt my feelings, it's just a fact that I'd like to change, mostly for myself. But I will be posting any paintings or studies I do and I'm sure that when I feel confident in going back to illustrations, they'll be better and more interesting for the both of us.
Thanks and God Bless.
